Massage Presentations - 1 CEU
"Massage Connections" in Portland and the "LMT Gathering" in Salem are a series of presentations organized by Oregon School of Massage for LMTs and massage students. The presentations are intended as an opportunity to learn about topics of interest and network with fellow professionals. There is no charge for these events. One hour of continuing education (for Oregon massage licensure) will be granted for each of the above presentations. Bring a colleague. Other healthcare professionals are welcome. SPORTS MASSAGE – Staying In The Game

Molly will discuss and demonstrate the new schools of thought on when and how to treat acute injuries, along with useful techniques for working with your everyday athlete including fascial release using the foam roller. She will also share insight into working in training rooms and sports injury clinics. Molly will facilitate a hands on exploration of the correct assessment and treatment of shin splints, a common sports injury. Dr. Forcum will share his reliance on sports trained LMTs and how they have worked with top athletes. This connections could be valuable in helping athlete clients keep their bodies in top form, regardless of their level of activity.
Molly Verschingel LMT, CKTP , is a sports massage instructor at Oregon School of Massage. She works at Back in Motion Sports Injury Clinic in Beaverton. Molly works with Portland State University providing their athletes with event and maintenance massage. She also works with The Portland Winter hawks Hockey Team. A published author of articles on massage in The Oregon Distance RunnerÕs Magazine, and the Body Works DVD:Sports Massage.
Ted Forcum, DC, DACBSP, FICC, CSCS , As a Doctor of Chiropractic with a lengthy list of certifications in specific treatment focus and methods to include Graston, Kinesio Taping, and Trigenics, Dr. Forcum approaches the treatment of injuries through osseous and soft tissue manipulation, massage, physiotherapy, corrective exercises, and biomechanical orthotics. He has worked as an event and team physician as well as the medical director at many athletic events such as US Track and Field, NCAA National Championships, Womens Pro-Beach Volleyball, US Sprint Canoe/Kayak Team World Championships, PGA Tour, US Figure Skating Championships, and Portland Marathon (to name a few). Dr. Forcum has taught postdoctoral programs and lectures internationally on sports injuries, soft tissue treatment, rehabilitation and biomechanics. He is an instructor for Graston Technique, FAKTR-PM and the NASM CES and PES programs. Dr. Forcum has authored Chapters in medical text on Injuires to the Leg, Ankle and Foot.
Those attending will receive a certificate for one hour of massage continuing education credit.

Rebekah's going to help us with understanding why a web presence is important, how to set up a site, and how to promote it. She wants to use real life examples so if you already have a web site please send a link to her at Rebekah@rlhcreative.com so she can use yours for show and tell.
